Job Summary

This position is located in Flint, Michigan. The Stroke Ready Peer Health Educator is responsible for delivery of stroke education workshops, averaging 2-10 hours per week collectively. The Stroke Ready project is focused on increasing knowledge of stroke and the importance of calling 911 within the Flint community. Working with the Stroke Ready team, the peer health educator will deliver stroke education workshops, assist in the evaluation of workshops, assist in recruitment of workshop sites and participate in local events such as health fairs as a representative of Stroke Ready. Workshops will be delivered in various community settings throughout Flint including, but not limited to, churches and faith-based organizations, community centers, schools, workplaces, health fairs and community events. **We anticipate that this will average to about 2-10 working hours per week** . There will be **flexibility** in the position in that some weeks no hours may be needed if there are no workshops scheduled.


+ Complete required training and periodic training updates

+ Commit to at least 1 workshop per week

+ Deliver stroke workshops incorporating various learning techniques and formats (lectures, group discussions, role playing, etc.)

+ Responsible for safeguarding and care of Stroke Ready program materials and devices

+ Maintain adequate inventory/supply of workshop materials and submit timely requests for replenishing

+ Participate in development of health education programming

+ Attend Stroke Ready staff meetings, as needed

+ Distribute program assessment tools

+ Provide monthly updates on progress with workshop delivery

+ Submit all workshop documentation in timely fashion

+ Arriving for workshops on time and dressed appropriately

+ Perform other duties as assigned

**Required Qualifications***

+ Strong interest in health promotion

+ Desire to "make a difference" in the Flint community

+ Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, depending on workshop schedule

+ Public speaking ability

+ Ability to lift 15 pounds

+ Punctual and organized

+ Must have Michigan driver's license

+ Must have reliable transportation

**Background Screening**
